Apple Confirms Replaceable Cover Layer for iPhone Duo's Folding Display

Apple has confirmed that the cover layer on the iPhone Duo's folding display is replaceable, allowing users to renew the screen's surface if it wears over time and the crease becomes more noticeable. Apple VP of Hardware Engineering Kate Bergeron said the matte finish serves both design and durability purposes, minimizing the crease's appearance. She explained the cover layer can be peeled off and replaced, though a fresh layer won't eliminate the physical fold beneath it. The repair estimator lists a $19 cover-layer replacement with AppleCare in the U.S., while pricing without coverage and self-replacement options remain undisclosed. Apple had not previously mentioned the layer's replaceability when introducing the device.
