Rubio visits Reliance's Jamnagar refinery as US pushes energy trade and Venezuelan crude
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Reliance Industries' Jamnagar complex on Wednesday, advancing Washington's push to deepen energy ties with India, including expanded US exports and increased processing of Venezuelan crude. The visit highlighted US goals of boosting American energy sales to India, encouraging Indian refining of Western Hemisphere oil, and strengthening commercial links with Reliance, a major global fuel exporter. Rubio toured the world's largest refining site, a wildlife center, and a clean-energy hub, hosted by the Ambani family. US Ambassador Sergio Gor noted India's imports of US liquefied petroleum gas surged from under 10% to 67% in the past year. Reliance plans a new Texas refinery, the first major US plant in decades, while Russian crude still accounts for about a third of Jamnagar's feedstock.
