OpenAI president says company could be IPO-ready by 2027
OpenAI President Greg Brockman said the company could be ready for an initial public offering in 2027, citing accelerating enterprise revenue and business growth. Speaking at a Wall Street Journal tech conference Wednesday, Brockman said OpenAI saw 70% quarterly growth in annualized revenue by the third quarter of 2026, driven by its enterprise segment doubling. He acknowledged the first two quarters were "pretty rough" and that the company initially lagged rival Anthropic in agentic coding. Enterprise business now accounts for the majority of OpenAI's revenue, up from roughly 30%, with recent deals including J.P. Morgan Chase. Brockman said OpenAI learned to build client trust and demonstrate long-term reliability, noting the company was previously perceived as consumer-focused.
