Martinez blasts Man Utd board for lack of squad investment after loss

Lisandro Martinez has publicly criticized Manchester United's board for failing to strengthen the squad after Champions League qualification, following a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday that extended the team's winless run to five games. The defender said he expects more investment and pointed to the club's technical director, Jason Wilcox, while noting United spent £155m on three midfielders but failed to add striking support or left-back competition. Martinez's comments drew sharp rebuke from former players Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young, who warned the remarks could damage dressing room unity. Martinez, who has one year left on his contract, argued the club should not keep changing managers and that last season's third-place finish created a base for success. Manager Michael Carrick declined to comment on the interview, saying he needed to learn more before addressing it.
