Akanji: No friendship with Sommer as Inter chase first Champions League win
Inter Milan defender Manuel Akanji said he will not be friends with Club Brugge goalkeeper Yann Sommer during Tuesday's Champions League match at San Siro, as Inter seeks its first European win after an opening defeat to Real Madrid. Akanji emphasized the importance of a top-eight finish for direct knockout qualification and praised squad rotation after Inter's strong domestic form, noting the team's only loss this season came against Real Madrid. He exchanged messages with Sommer, a former Inter player, but stressed winning is the priority. The Swiss defender, in his second season at Inter after winning two domestic trophies, dismissed the match as do-or-die, saying the team has six group games remaining but wants to win in front of home fans.
