Alberta referendum: 10 ballots, one question on separation

Albertans vote Monday in a referendum featuring 10 separate ballots and ballot boxes, including a question on whether the province should remain in Canada, with over one million advance votes already cast. Voters must attend assigned polling stations from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., bringing accepted ID, and will mark 10 colour-coded ballots covering issues like immigration, judicial appointments, and separation. Hand-counting of all ballots, with the separation question prioritized, may delay results. Elections Alberta printed 45 million ballots and aims for an unofficial count within 48 hours, though experts doubt this timeline. Anyone in line by 8 p.m. can vote, and official results are scheduled for Oct. 29.
