Ukraine regains full Starlink access after US restrictions
Ukraine has regained full access to American satellite internet services after ten days of restrictions on Starlink and Starshield, which had hampered drone operations. The move follows Kyiv's apparent compliance with a US demand to stop attacking Russian oil refineries. The restrictions, imposed in mid-October, disabled internet when devices moved faster than 160 kilometers per hour, affecting both attack and interceptor drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the restoration over the weekend, though no new strikes on Russian diesel facilities have been reported since October 16. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has offered contradictory explanations for the restrictions, first blaming Pentagon control of Starshield, then accusing Ukraine of misusing civilian Starlink for offensive operations. Ukrainian officials deny any violations, while the Trump administration faces Senate scrutiny over the affair.
