Pentagon declines to investigate Starlink restrictions in Ukraine
The Pentagon's inspector general has refused to investigate restrictions on Starlink and Starshield satellite services in Ukraine, despite a bipartisan request from nine senators. The decision was communicated on October 27. The inspector general stated the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the US Air Force, deflecting the inquiry. Senator Jeanne Shaheen criticized the refusal, citing contradictory explanations from the Trump administration and SpaceX and calling for an independent review. The restrictions, which began on October 14, affected terminal speeds during movement and were gradually lifted by October 24, according to Ukrainian officials. The senators had also sought to determine if the limits impacted intelligence sharing and air threat warnings.
