A technical failure in UK air traffic control systems has led to the cancellation of over 600 flights on September 8, causing major disruptions at British airports. According to Flightradar24 data, 625 flights were cancelled by 6 PM local time, with London accounting for 60% of all cancellations. Heathrow Airport alone saw 132 departures cancelled and 199 delayed, while Ryanair reported 65,000 passengers affected. Although the National Air Traffic Service said systems were beginning to recover, most airports had not yet resumed normal operations. A similar technical fault caused flight disruptions in July 2025, and a Romanian airport also temporarily suspended operations due to an air raid alert.
