Trump Claims Victory in Alaska Race Despite Peltola's Lead
President Donald Trump claimed Saturday that Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan is leading Alaska's Senate race, despite Democrat Mary Peltola holding a narrow edge in the vote count. Trump proposed adding votes from two other candidates to Sullivan's total. Peltola leads with 48.17 percent of the vote, while Sullivan trails by fewer than 700 votes at 47.88 percent, with only 75 percent of ballots counted. Alaska's ranked-choice system will redistribute votes from eliminated candidates, but not necessarily to Sullivan, with final tabulation scheduled for Nov. 18. Trump's post followed Stephen Miller's appointment as White House chief of staff, with Miller calling the race an election integrity attack. Another candidate, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., remains on the ballot despite legal challenges, and Peltola's campaign has denied coordination allegations.
