Houthis Warn US: Strikes on American Interests if Washington Intervenes in Yemen

A Houthi military adviser has warned that Yemen's Houthi movement will target American interests in the region if the United States supports Saudi Arabia or intervenes in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The adviser also stated that the Houthis and Iran form a single alliance. The adviser, Abed Mohammed al-Thawr, said all American interests would be considered targets if Washington conducted airstrikes in support of Saudi Arabia. He called any US intervention in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait a "red line." The strait is a crucial route for global trade and Saudi oil exports. Yemen has descended back into war since July, with hundreds killed since September. The Houthis have advanced on the west coast and strengthened control over the strait. President Trump reportedly declined Saudi requests to strike the Houthis, claiming they agreed not to attack the US.
