Psychologist testifies Lindsay Clancy had bipolar disorder before killing her children

A forensic psychologist testified Monday that Lindsay Clancy, on trial for killing her three children, has bipolar disorder and experienced anxiety, depression, insomnia and suicidal thoughts beforehand. The testimony contradicts a psychiatrist who said she had no such disorder. Psychologist Kirk Heilbrun, who examined Clancy over three days, disagreed with Dr. Avram Mack's Friday testimony. Both testified for prosecutors in the case centering on Clancy's mental state when she strangled her children in January 2023. Closing arguments are expected later this week. Clancy's attorney argues she isn't criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors say she planned the killings. Clancy, 36, pleaded not guilty. Her children ranged from 8 months to 5 years old.
