FPI outflows hit Rs 2.5 lakh crore, dragging HDFC Bank, Infosys, ITC shares down

businesstoday.in —

Foreign portfolio investor (FPI) outflows from India hit a record Rs 2.5 lakh crore in 2026 so far, surpassing the entire 2025 total by 50 percent and hammering top foreign-owned stocks. HDFC Bank, the largest FPI holding at Rs 4.66 lakh crore, fell 27 percent this year, while Infosys and ITC plunged 33 percent and 34 percent respectively. None of the top ten FPI holdings delivered positive returns. Analysts suggest the sharp correction offers Indian investors value-buying opportunities in large banks, capital goods, telecom, and autos, though persistent foreign selling may limit any market recovery.
