AMD forecasts strong Q4 revenue as AI chip demand accelerates
AMD forecast fourth-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on Tuesday, driven by strong demand for its AI chips as it challenges Nvidia's dominance. The company nearly doubled its data-center revenue in the third quarter, capturing market share from rival Intel. AMD expects fourth-quarter revenue of about $17 billion, above analysts' average estimate of $16.23 billion. Third-quarter revenue rose 45% to $13.38 billion, with data-center revenue jumping 97% to a record $8.55 billion. Adjusted profit came in at $2.09 per share, beating estimates. The company is ramping up its Helios rack system, tested at Meta, and agreed to sell up to $60 billion in AI chips to Meta. AMD also acquired World Labs for $8.2 billion in stock.
