Tech stocks slide as Intel, Microsoft, and Sandisk earnings disappoint
Technology stocks fell this week as investors reacted to earnings reports, with the Nasdaq Composite closing lower on Friday after discouraging results from major companies. Intel shares plunged 26% after issuing fourth-quarter guidance well below Wall Street forecasts, despite reporting revenue of $16.51 billion, up 21% year-over-year, and adjusted earnings of $0.52 per share beating estimates. Microsoft priced $25 billion in senior unsecured debt to fund capital expenditures, stock buybacks, and general corporate purposes, with capital spending expected to top $50 billion. Sandisk fell over 13% despite stronger-than-expected results and an approved eight-for-one stock split effective Nov. 19. Other notable moves included ServiceNow, F5, and Fortinet among the week's top losers, while Gen Digital, Global Payments, and Flex led gainers. Apple unveiled new iMac and MacBook Pro models with its M6 chip and acquired agentic platform Ascension Labs, while Bloomberg reported Marvell Technology is in advanced talks to buy Lumentum Holdings.
