Intel sells out all Wildcat Lake processors as budget chip demand surges
Intel has sold out its entire inventory of budget Wildcat Lake processors, with CEO Lip-Bu Tan stating demand "exceeds supply" during a financial results discussion. CFO David Zinsner confirmed all available chips in the series have been sold. Zinsner noted "significant growth in interest" in Wildcat Lake, citing attractive pricing as timely amid rising PC costs from memory and component shortages. The chips appear in affordable Windows laptops like Dell XPS 13 and HP OmniBook 5 14, though these often include only 8GB RAM. Intel expects no memory shortage improvement in 2027, with Zinsner saying "we are not optimistic" about next year, though SK hynix predicts shortages could last until 2030. Tan acknowledged slowing PC demand amid one of the industry's worst component deficits, while Zinsner anticipates a PC market revival.
