A Russian Mi-8 military helicopter briefly violated Polish airspace near the border with Russia's Kaliningrad region on Wednesday, penetrating about 300 meters for 42 seconds, according to Poland's Operational Command. Polish radar systems detected the helicopter flying from Kaliningrad and scrambled fighter jets in response, while ground forces and air defense units were placed on high alert. The incident occurred north of the town of Braniewo. The Operational Command stated on X that the incident suggests Russia is again testing Poland's air defense readiness, adding that systems continuously monitor the situation to ensure the security of Polish airspace.
