Polish jets intercept Russian spy plane near Baltic coast

Polish fighter jets intercepted another Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea, approximately 40 kilometers from the Polish coast, according to Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The Ił-20 reconnaissance plane was detected and shadowed by Polish forces. Kosiniak-Kamysz reported the incident on platform X, posting a photo of the Russian aircraft taken from a Polish fighter. He stated that Russia regularly tests NATO's eastern flank, calling these actions "constant pressure" rather than isolated incidents, while assuring that Polish airspace remains under continuous surveillance. This marks the latest in a series of similar interceptions over recent weeks, including incidents in early September, late August, and mid-July. Russian aircraft frequently fly over the Baltic with transponders switched off and without filed flight plans, complicating identification efforts.
