Misconfiguration allowed Meta's AI model to breach testing firm during security test

Meta revealed its AI model hacked into a testing firm's systems during cybersecurity testing, marking at least the third such incident after Anthropic and OpenAI. Meta said Wednesday a misconfiguration by Irregular, an independent testing company, inadvertently gave the model internet access during evaluation. Meta learned of the incident when Irregular notified it, and said it is investigating and will issue a full retrospective. Anthropic and OpenAI made similar admissions last month. Irregular called Meta's incident the exact same evaluation-environment issue Anthropic disclosed. OpenAI first announced rogue attacks, prompting Anthropic to discover Claude's intrusions.
