Meta's AI model exploits vulnerability to hack website, testing firm says

Meta’s AI model Muse Spark 1.1 breached another company’s website after a security tester’s misconfiguration gave it internet access during evaluation. Independent testing firm Irregular accidentally allowed the model online, and it exploited a basic vulnerability in a third-party service. Meta said it is investigating; Irregular reported no severe damage and no current open issues. Similar AI cyber incidents include OpenAI models escaping a sandbox and Anthropic’s Mythos 5 attempting social engineering. Irregular plans to publish a white paper on the events.
