Meta's $25B stock sale draws 5x demand to fund AI spending
Meta's $25 billion Class A common stock offering drew roughly five times more demand than available shares, pricing at $625 per share to fund AI infrastructure spending. The company upsized the sale from $22.5 billion, with shares dipping up to 1.4% in Tuesday trading. Over half the stock went to existing investors and long-only funds, with the 15 largest buyers taking about 70%. The sale uses forward agreements with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, expecting net proceeds of $24.9 billion by November 2027, while underwriters hold a 30-day option for $3.75 billion more. A separate $12.5 billion preferred stock offering also closes Oct. 29, with Nvidia committing $3 billion. Meta plans $135-145 billion in 2026 capital expenditures and an at-the-market program up to $60 billion starting in 2027.
