Iran’s leaders vow more defeats for Trump after US midterms
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said Wednesday that anyone expecting a shift in US policy was "seriously mistaken," hours after midterm elections dealt a blow to President Donald Trump. Khamenei stated that hopes for change through partisan shifts or concessions to the US were misguided, following Democrats' seizure of Congress amid anger over living costs, tariffs, and the war against Iran. He warned that repeated aggressions would widen the war's scope. Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Americans voted against war, while judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei declared Trump "defeated both militarily and politically" and vowed further defeats. Khamenei, 57, succeeded his father after US-Israeli strikes killed him in February.
