The Melbourne-based athlete lost control of her bowels during the Pro Women's race at the National Speed Skating Oval, with footage showing her continuing on shared equipment with faecal matter on her legs. She finished in 1 hour 1 minute and 23 seconds and won, prompting backlash that led co-founder Moritz Fürste to admit the organization "made a mistake by not reacting immediately." Revised rules now permit a race director to withdraw an athlete if their "blood, vomit, urine, or faeces poses a welfare or contamination risk." Hyrox China said affected areas were isolated and disinfected, with carpets replaced and the site deep-cleaned. The organization warned it would permanently ban anyone using violent language against the athlete, while some participants questioned the lack of refunds or compensation for affected competitors.
