Hyrox changes rules after athlete finishes race despite soiling herself in Beijing

Hyrox has apologized and updated its global rulebook after an Australian athlete was allowed to finish and win a race in Beijing despite soiling herself during the event. The competitor won the Pro Women’s race in 1 hour 1 minute and 23 seconds, but footage showing faecal matter on her legs and shared equipment sparked backlash. Hyrox co-founder Moritz Fürste admitted the organization failed to react immediately to prevent potential contamination. Under revised rules, race directors can now withdraw athletes on medical grounds if blood, vomit, urine, or faeces pose a welfare or contamination risk. Hyrox China disinfected the venue and replaced affected carpets, while the organization warned that abusive language toward the athlete would result in permanent bans.
