Europe's Role in Abu Dhabi Talks Revealed by Kyiv
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tykhyi stated that European allies will be involved in the negotiation process surrounding the trilateral meeting of Ukrainian, US, and Russian teams in Abu Dhabi, with Kyiv coordinating with them before and after the talks. Tykhyi explained that European participation is essential because security guarantees, ceasefire enforcement, and long-term security cannot be resolved without European states, which will be part of any security arrangements, whether through NATO or other formats. He also noted that Ukraine's reconstruction requires European partners, and Kyiv insists on the broadest possible representation of European interests to ensure the peace effort unites allies rather than divides them. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously said the technical trilateral meeting is expected between November 6 and 10, though the venue in Abu Dhabi may change due to "sensitive issues" in the Middle East. Kyiv awaits details from the US side after the midterm congressional elections, and Zelensky discussed with the Dutch prime minister how to ensure Europe's position is fully considered.
