ChatGPT now generates editable GIFs in chat with Images 2.6

smartworld.it (Italian) —

OpenAI has updated ChatGPT with the Images 2.6 model, enabling native generation of animated GIFs directly in chat, which can also be edited by adjusting playback speed and individual frames. Users can now create GIFs from text prompts or photos without external tools, and modify them within the chatbot interface. OpenAI reports over 4 billion images generated weekly, up from 3 billion in September, with the update rolling out across all platforms. The model is available to all ChatGPT and Codex users, alongside new API variants GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst for developers prioritizing speed or quality. This feature addresses a long-standing gap in ChatGPT's creative tools.
