ArcelorMittal halts Kryvyi Rih steel plant after missile attacks

ArcelorMittal, the global steel giant, has announced it cannot safely resume operations at its Kryvyi Rih plant in Ukraine, effectively halting production at the country's largest steelmaker. The decision follows four missile attacks on the facility over the past five weeks, which killed five workers and injured 17 others, with one in critical condition. The latest strike occurred on September 21, causing significant damage to production infrastructure. CEO Mauro Longobardo said the company is discussing the plant's future with the Ukrainian government and will focus on preserving infrastructure to potentially restart production after the war ends.
