Russia's wheat exports fall nearly fourfold after Black Sea port attacks

Russia's wheat exports fell nearly fourfold in the second decade of September due to Ukrainian attacks on Black Sea grain terminals, according to the Russian Grain Union. Shipments dropped to 347,000 tonnes from 1.3 million tonnes year-on-year. Total grain exports fell from nearly 1.6 million to 381,000 tonnes, with barley down 9.9 times and corn down 3.3 times. The number of buyer countries shrank from 29 to 8, with Egypt and Turkey sharply reducing purchases. The Russian Grain Union noted buyers are seeking alternative suppliers from Europe to Australia. Russian wheat prices fell to $105.7 per tonne, the lowest September level in eight years. Ukraine is gradually increasing exports via alternative logistics routes.
