Russia to Use Oleshky Humanitarian Mission for Propaganda, The Atlantic Reports
Russia plans to use a humanitarian mission in occupied Oleshky to portray itself as a rescuer rather than the cause of the disaster, according to The Atlantic. Moscow will allow only select US journalists favorable to the Kremlin and loyal to Donald Trump into the city. The Atlantic's Zarina Zabrisky reports that most Ukrainian and independent international journalists will be barred from Oleshky. Newsmax has claimed exclusive television access, with Fox News and Tucker Carlson also reportedly permitted, while interviews with locals will be controlled by Russian forces and translators. Ukraine agreed to the evacuation conditions to save lives and will maintain information silence. The humanitarian ceasefire was arranged with US administration involvement, including First Lady Melania Trump, as the Trump administration seeks a success story before midterm elections.
