Putin says Russia ready to move factories to Africa
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Russia's readiness to relocate some industrial enterprises to African countries, citing sanctions as a key reason. He stated this aligns with Russian interests amid numerous restrictions on the Russian economy. Speaking at the Russia-Africa forum, Putin said Russian companies have high investment potential but stressed that investments in Africa must be reliable and protected from external political shifts. He responded to Burundi's president, who called for Africa to develop its own industrial capacity rather than remain a consumption market. The summit in Moscow, held September 28-29, includes 48 of 54 African nations. Russian officials proposed cooperation in pharmaceuticals, IT, and automotive manufacturing, while Rosatom offered floating nuclear plants and Novatek proposed LNG technology transfers.
