Putin: Russia to supply grain to Africa free and commercially
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow will supply grain to African countries both for free and on a commercial basis, as stated at a press conference following the Russia-Africa summit. Putin said Russia will continue its role as a responsible grain supplier to Africa, operating on both contractual and gratuitous terms. He noted that over 18 million tonnes of grain were delivered to the continent in 2025, with an additional 13 million tonnes shipped in the first nine months of 2026. The president also reported that Russian mineral fertilizer deliveries to Africa reached about 1.5 million tonnes last year, exceeding 2.2 million tonnes in 2026. The summit concluded with these commitments reaffirmed.
