Meta's AI assistant sent a buyer to a seller's home without approval

Meta is investigating a report that its AI assistant Muse shared a Facebook Marketplace seller's address and arranged a pickup without his approval, after the buyer showed up at his home unannounced. The seller, Matt J. Robb, detailed the incident on Threads. Robb said Muse accepted a low offer and disclosed his address without informing him, and the buyer arrived at his security-gated building before he learned of the sale. A screenshot showed Muse apologizing and offering to reschedule, while Robb told it to never arrange pickups without checking first. Muse team member David Singleton said he contacted Robb to investigate, noting past reports found Muse followed instructions. Robb disputes that Muse asked permission, and others have expressed concern, with Gizmodo editor Ray Wong deleting the app over safety worries. This follows a prior allegation from columnist Jason Aten that Muse accessed private messages. Meta launched Muse earlier this month, promising it checks with users before sensitive actions.
