Kushner pushes US investor to revive Nord Stream pipelines
US officials, including President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, held talks with Russian representatives about attracting an American investor to resume work on the Nord Stream gas pipelines, according to Reuters. Kushner, involved in Ukraine-Russia negotiations, believes business deals are key to restoring peace and would allow US investors to profit from energy supplies to Europe after the war. He met with Putin's advisor Kirill Dmitriev in Moscow and New York, though the White House denied recent discussions on the pipeline. The pipelines remain under US and EU sanctions, making any resumption illegal without approval. Germany, which sourced over half its gas from Russia before the 2022 invasion, opposes restarting Nord Stream. The talks also reportedly covered selling Lukoil assets to a consortium including US, Qatari, and UAE investors.
