Hot air balloon fall injures one in Valladolid, lands in Pisuerga River

One person was injured Saturday after falling from a hot air balloon participating in a competition in Valladolid, Spain, which then crashed into a field and later fell into the Pisuerga River. The alert was received at 9:04 a.m. The balloon made a sudden descent, hitting farmland in Simancas and throwing both occupants. Emergency services, including police, Guardia Civil, and firefighters, responded. Medical assistance treated the injured person for severe hip pain. The balloon, empty of occupants, subsequently collapsed into the river near the Roman Bridge.
