French unions call for new education strike on November 10
French unions representing students, teachers, and high school organizations have called for a new strike on November 10, arguing the government is beginning to retreat and that mobilization should be amplified. The intersyndicale issued a statement asserting that now is the time to intensify protests, following ongoing demonstrations and blockades. The call comes amid broader education disputes, including a controversial budget amendment that would cut Catholic school funding to finance a 20% teacher salary increase. The amendment, proposed by LFI deputy Paul Vannier and adopted on October 29, would redirect 8.3 billion euros from private education credits. Student leaders have also faced scrutiny over their political affiliations during the movement.
