Gilets jaunes defy police ban with Paris protest at Place de la Concorde
The Gilets jaunes movement plans to hold its fourth protest at Place de la Concorde in Paris on Saturday, November 7, 2026, despite a police ban on the gathering. Organizers have vowed to proceed with the demonstration regardless of the prohibition. The national coordination refused a police request to join a separate union march between République and Nation, arguing their demands are unrelated. Spokesperson Azelma Sigaux confirmed on X that the group will "disobey" and maintain the 2 p.m. gathering, having already filed a complaint against the police prefect for obstructing protest rights. Participants in the banned rally face fines of 135 euros, potentially rising to 750 euros. The union march against high living costs remains authorized, and 14 metro stations will close due to both events. Previous Gilets jaunes protests drew declining numbers, from 550,000 on October 17 to 320,000 on October 31.
