Fires hit two tankers and a tugboat in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's IRGC says

interfax.ru (Russian) —

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported fires on two oil tankers and a tugboat after they attempted to transit the Strait of Hormuz via an unauthorized route. A large tanker struck a mine and caught fire on the southern fairway near Oman, while a second supertanker ignited upon exiting the strait. The tugboat sent to assist also burned. The IRGC also said it intercepted and captured two US LUCAS drones, forcing them to land safely. It blamed US insistence on using mined, unauthorized routes for financial costs borne by American taxpayers and allies.
