Dow Opens Mixed as Boeing Drops, AI Stocks Support Nasdaq
The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened lower on October 27, trading down 25.37 points at 52,336.21 by 9:35 a.m., as selling in some stocks reporting quarterly earnings weighed on the index, while AI-related buying provided support. Boeing fell after reporting a larger-than-expected per-share loss for the July-September 2026 quarter, with weak production and high costs in its commercial aircraft business disappointing investors. Sherwin-Williams also declined after missing earnings estimates and lowering its full-year outlook. Broadcom rose after announcing a financing framework with US financial institutions to support AI firm Anthropic's semiconductor procurement. Coca-Cola traded flat, while Goldman Sachs, Caterpillar, Alphabet, and Nvidia gained. The Nasdaq Composite opened higher, led by AI cloud services and hard disk drive stocks.
