Anthropic security chief warns cyber threats will worsen before improving
Jason Clinton, deputy chief information security officer at Anthropic, warned on October 22 that cybersecurity conditions will worsen significantly before improving, urging security leaders to request basic resources from their boards now. Clinton's warning follows critical PHP vulnerabilities, rated 9.2 severity, that emerged October 20, with exploitation attempts detected days earlier and millions of attacks logged by Cloudflare. He previously predicted a "tsunami of vulnerabilities" and recommended isolating networks. Clinton advocates strengthening fundamental security measures like multi-factor authentication and backups, not new AI tools. He expects AI capabilities to eventually prevent vulnerabilities within roughly 18 months, a timeline he calls "vulnzero."
