15 American nations sign pact to freeze assets and revoke visas of PCC and CV members

Fifteen American countries signed an agreement Tuesday to impose economic sanctions and immigration restrictions against 24 transnational criminal organizations, including Brazil's PCC and Comando Vermelho factions. The measure freezes assets and revokes visas for members and supporters. The pact was promoted by the US government under the Americas Shield coalition, led by President Donald Trump, and includes Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. It provides for criminal prosecution of anyone providing logistical support, using Organization of American States mechanisms for enforcement. The classification of the factions as terrorist groups contradicts the Brazilian government's legal and diplomatic stance. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva rejected foreign interference, while Brazilian law requires prejudice or xenophobia motivation to characterize terrorism.
