Voters Decide 146 Ballot Measures on Abortion, LGBTQ Rights, and Guns
Voters in 39 states, Washington, D.C., and the Northern Mariana Islands decided 146 statewide ballot measures on Tuesday, covering abortion, LGBTQ rights, taxes, guns, and data centers, with Democrats achieving a major electoral sweep. Three states—Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia—moved to protect or expand abortion access, while Idaho upheld its existing ban. Voters also approved stricter voter ID laws in Nevada, North Carolina, and Ohio, and several states reinforced citizenship requirements for voting. Virginia repealed its same-sex marriage ban, and Vermont added sexual orientation and gender identity to its equal protection clause, while other states passed restrictions on transgender athletes and facility use. Florida approved property tax cuts, and Massachusetts upheld strict gun regulations, though Idaho's symbolic state gun vote remained undecided.
