Russian Experts Allege Widespread Vote Fraud in Parliamentary Elections
Experts estimate that Russia's real voter turnout in the parliamentary elections was under 40%, roughly a third lower than the official figure announced by the Central Election Commission. They also claim that artificially added votes for the United Russia party occurred on a similar scale. Analysis of the first 20,000 published election protocols by Data Insight co-founder Boris Ovchinnikov suggests that about 31% of all votes were falsified, with up to 55% of United Russia's votes potentially fabricated. Analyst Pyotr Zhizhin, using the Shpilkin method, calculated the party's real support at approximately 35%, compared to the official 57.83%. Electoral expert Roman Udot described the scale of falsification as "the agony of the system," noting that administrative resources may have added about 20 percentage points to the official result. Analyst Stanislav Andreychuk also claimed that 60,000 votes were unexpectedly added for the Fair Russia party, allowing it to cross the 5% threshold and enter the State Duma.
