Maruti Suzuki raises green vehicle sales target to 1 million for FY27

business-standard.com

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has raised its green vehicle sales target to 1 million units for fiscal year 2027, covering CNG, hybrid, and electric models, following the launch of automatic S-CNG variants of its Swift, Dzire, and Baleno cars on Friday. The company, which holds a 70 percent share of India's CNG market, previously projected 800,000 to 900,000 green vehicle sales this fiscal. Senior Executive Officer Partho Banerjee said the new automatic transmission models address a previously untapped customer segment seeking CNG's cost benefits without sacrificing automatic convenience. Maruti Suzuki currently sells about 80,000 CNG vehicles monthly, with CNG comprising 43 percent of its portfolio. Production capacity is limited to 18,000 units per month, and the company says supply constraints, not demand, are the primary bottleneck to higher volumes.
