Jose Altuve records 2,500th career hit with double vs. Phillies

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve recorded his 2,500th career hit with a third-inning double against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old reached the milestone on a hit to center field off Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez, becoming the second player in franchise history to achieve the mark. Hall of Famer Craig Biggio leads Houston with 3,060 hits. Altuve, who debuted in 2011, is a three-time batting champion and the 2017 American League MVP with two World Series titles. He and Freddie Freeman are the only active players with 2,500 hits.
