DeSantis Prepares for 2028 Presidential Run

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is preparing to run for US president in the 2028 election, according to The Washington Post. He plans to seek the Republican nomination and has already approached at least one political consultant. DeSantis's decision follows the Republicans' failure in the November 3 midterm elections, where they lost control of both Congressional chambers. His supporters say he sees a new opportunity, while Florida remains a strong Republican state. DeSantis ran in the 2024 presidential race but dropped out and endorsed Donald Trump, the current president. Trump has suggested Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as ideal candidates for 2028, though Vance has not ruled out running himself.
