YouTuber claims California police engaged in illegal entrapment

Damon Fryer, a well-known YouTuber and founder of DailyDrivenExotics, has accused the California Highway Patrol (CHP) of illegal entrapment. This came after he and a friend were pulled over while driving their luxury sports cars, even though they were under the speed limit. On March 24, 2025, Fryer posted a video showing the incident. He explained that he and his friend slowed down due to a significant number of police cars around them. According to Fryer, the police presence caused both of them to reduce their speed for safety reasons. After they pulled into a parking lot, the officers informed them they were driving at 45 mph in an area with a speed limit of 55 mph to 70 mph. Despite Fryer's explanation, he received a ticket for "impeding," as the officer claimed they were slowing down traffic while shooting the video. Fryer questioned the officers, asking why only exotic cars were being pulled over. In his video, Fryer stated that he felt targeted because of their colorful vehicles. He encouraged viewers to take action against what he calls an entrapment situation. Many commenters supported him, empathizing with his experience as an exotic car lover enjoying a drive. This is not Fryer's first viral moment. In December 2022, he famously recorded an accident involving his McLaren 720 GTR. His YouTube channel has over 4 million subscribers, who enjoy watching his supercar adventures on the roads of California.
