York County Sheriff honors employees and citizens academy graduates
The York County Sheriff's Office recently held its annual awards ceremony to honor its employees and community members for their service and dedication. The event took place on March 21. During the ceremony, several individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Detective Steven Broy was named Deputy of the Year for his leadership in upgrading technology in the Criminal Investigation Division. Sheriff William L. King praised his efforts and commitment to handling a full caseload. Adam Boynton was awarded Corrections Officer of the Year for his exemplary response during an emergency situation. Sue Seaman, a retired officer, received the Reserve Corrections Officer of the Year award for her continued dedication and mentorship. Lifesaving awards were given to deputies who worked together to save a young gunshot victim. They were recognized for their calm and effective actions in a chaotic environment. The ceremony also featured the graduation of the inaugural Citizens Police Academy. Twenty-seven students participated in this program, which aimed to educate the community about police operations and build relationships. Graduates expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn more about law enforcement. In addition to the awards, a chili contest was held, where local participants showcased their cooking skills. The ceremony concluded with performances of the national anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.
