Yogi Adityanath vows to restore temples in Sambhal

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to restore temples in Sambhal. He stated that authorities have already found over 54 pilgrimage sites. The goal is to identify and revive all temples in the area. During his address, Adityanath highlighted the importance of these sites to India's cultural heritage. He expressed determination to uncover every temple, stating, "Whatever it is, we will find it." He drew attention to mosques built on destroyed Hindu temples, arguing that such structures are not recognized by Islam. The chief minister emphasized that the restoration efforts will progress as new evidence is discovered. He mentioned that 54 sites have been confirmed, and more are being sought. Scientific evidence will support these claims, and they are committed to addressing each site individually. Adityanath also commented on the ongoing dispute over the Mathura mosque, affirming that the government respects the court's decisions. He remarked on the importance of moving forward peacefully. Furthermore, he condemned celebrations of historical figures like Ghazi Salar Masood, stating such actions disrespect the nation. He criticized the glorification of figures associated with violence and foreign invasions, arguing it insults the faith and sacrifices of Indian citizens. Sambhal has seen unrest recently, linked to a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, a mosque from the Mughal era. In connection with the resulting violence, Zafar Ali, a local mosque leader, was detained by police for questioning under tight security. His arrest follows his involvement in the disturbances during the survey.
