Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath raised questions about India's performance in readymade garment exports compared to Bangladesh. He spoke at an investor meeting for a new textile park in the state on March 22, 2025. Adityanath pointed out that Bangladesh, which has a population of 160 million, is excelling in this sector, while India, with 1.4 billion people, is falling behind. He emphasized that India has the potential to create a strong textile brand on a global scale. He noted that the readymade garment industry offers significant opportunities, and it is essential to guide India's large workforce in this direction. "There is a large population that needs work, but there should be someone to show them the way," he added. He also highlighted Uttar Pradesh's role as a key consumer market for the textile industry. The chief minister mentioned that the state serves not only its own residents but also consumers from nearby regions, including Nepal and several Indian states. Adityanath stressed the need for comprehensive facilities within the PM MITRA Park to meet market demands. This includes services like sewing, dyeing, printing, packaging, and designing.
