Yeongnam wildfire death toll reaches 13 confirmed fatalities

As of early March 26, at least 13 people have died in the wildfires in the Yeongnam region that started on March 21. The confirmed fatalities include two in Andong, three in Cheongsong, four in Yeongyang, and four in Sancheong, with one person missing. Officials expect the death toll may rise as rescuers find more victims. In Andong, a woman in her 50s was found dead in her yard while her husband, injured, was taken to the hospital. Police believe they were trying to escape the fire when she died. Another woman in her 70s was discovered dead from smoke inhalation in a nearby yard. In Cheongsong, three people have died, with one woman in her 80s found after the fire engulfed her home. Another man in his 70s was also found while helping others evacuate. A 65-year-old woman was found dead on a street, likely trying to escape. In Yeongyang, four deaths connected to the fire have been reported, with the bodies of three victims discovered charred. Authorities are currently working to identify them. In Sancheong, four firefighters tragically lost their lives while battling the blaze. The situation remains serious as more information comes to light.
